Interesting debate. I am very surprised by that Blown2L, is there a still form a Poirot episode with a 16/80 most episodes can be found on Youtube.
As far as I’m concerned Hastings’ car is a 2 Litre in every episode. I am in agreement with Chris on this, I have loads of Poirot episodes on my hard drive and watch them when I’m bored. I love the cars, the costumes and of course the stories but never seen a 16/80 .The radiator grill is, of course, very different so it would be instantly noticeable.
Richard Branch17 February 2016 at 13:37 #51756Just to complete this thread, I have located the article – The Lagonda Club magazine number 219 Winter 2008/2009 – 2 Litre Rev Counters, Clive Dalton resolves a very common problem.
Very interesting to read and understand the relevance of the graduations.
And yes I will get along to as many meets as possible. 🙂
Regards Rich…
Richard Branch17 February 2016 at 12:28 #51755Capt Hasting’s Lagonda is a 2 Litre – here’s a good image of the engine, quite clear to see.
Richard Branch17 February 2016 at 11:26 #51754Hi Tim, would I be correct in assuming much of this information is also pertinent to the 16/80? If so I would be interested in receiving a CD.
Thanks – Rich…
Richard Branch13 February 2016 at 16:11 #51748Thanks, my car is a 16/80 but that said, presumably these are like hens teeth?
Richard Branch3 February 2016 at 12:17 #51722What can I sat except “Ah bless.” The chap describing it seems fair and he’s not going to say his late father built a pile of poo is he!
Richard Branch2 February 2016 at 20:42 #51717Thanks for all the advice chaps, most useful, as usual 🙂
Richard Branch2 February 2016 at 11:48 #51715Right thanks, but am I correct in thinking that these will not be legal in their original state?
p.s. I may have located some in good condition but with only one solenoid lamp. Just trying to asses the amount of adaptation required.
p.p.s. My car has two driving lamps rather than one centre lamp
Richard Branch30 January 2016 at 22:28 #51703The snag I would see there is that that operates at body temperature so 35-37 degrees. I assume the radiator grill slats start to open at around 70 degrees?
Richard Branch13 January 2016 at 20:50 #51688That’s fair comment Colin and I fully intend to get involved. Cars, food and a beer – how could I not do so! Unfortunately I’m away on business this coming couple of weeks but hopefully as the weather improves I will get to some pub meets in the south area. Rgds Rich…
Richard Branch12 January 2016 at 22:19 #51686Ah ha, so that’s where I saw it. Guess I will have to trawl back through the old mags on-line. Thanks for jogging my memory. Shame there’s not a searchable index of the articles for the club magazine on-line. Just hypothesising! 😉
Richard Branch9 January 2016 at 22:08 #51674Thanks chaps, that’s really useful information. I will contact Jon to see if he has the build sheet for my 16/80.
Richard Branch8 January 2016 at 22:40 #51666Out of interest David, how can one find the build sheets or were you fortunate to have it with the car?
Richard Branch4 January 2016 at 20:35 #51662Hello Mark,
Thanks for your reply, Dennis Norton thought that Hockley Tools may have had a side line going in restoring cars, perhaps a hobby of one of the directors? Either way I will give you a call, it would be good to talk it through.
Kind regards
