Thanks Bill, that’s most useful. I had considered Dunlops but as you say they are out of stock at all the usual suppliers. So currently leaning towards trying the Blockleys.
Richard Branch20 April 2016 at 18:28 #51877Thanks Mark for the info regarding the temperature gauge; I am of the age that uses feet and inches and beer in pints but am more comfortable with temperatures in Centigrade. It’s good to hear that Degs C is probably good for 1933 cars. I found a decent looking gauge on eBay but it’s Deg F so I’ll pass on that.
Regarding the bezels, black is good for me. Simon, can you PM your details as I may contact you to renovate some dials for me.
Thanks Rich…
Richard Branch19 April 2016 at 21:32 #51871Following on from my previous post, can anyone say if 1930s Lagondas were ever fitted with water temperature gauges calibrated in Fahrenheit? Most of the pics I have seen on the internet show them as having Centigrade gauges but I wondered if these are newer? In the winter I am aiming to re-do the dash board in my car and am slowly collecting the correct instruments to go in. Thanks Rich?
Richard Branch14 April 2016 at 20:31 #51863I don’t have an answer to your question however to post pictures (on most forums I use) I prefer to host the image somewhere like Photobucket or Flickr and them simply post the link (url) from the hosting site into my post on the forum. Much easier and it means you don’t have to resize etc. People reading the thread can enlarge the image properly to see the detail if necessary.
Richard Branch2 April 2016 at 20:57 #51846So a nice plush Wilton, leather bound with some underlay sounds about right? Anyway, this is all for the future, I’ll just drive it and enjoy it this summer but I’m planning jobs for the winter…
Richard Branch31 March 2016 at 15:21 #51838I have a good selection of the recognised Lagonda books however most of the original photos are in black & white and not sufficient in quality to make out such small details. While the colour photos are almost by definition concours or highly photogenic cars that have typically been restored or renovated.
Richard Branch31 March 2016 at 10:33 #51836Ah thanks Laurence, that’s reassuring. I agree the Karvel stuff is rather nasty isn’t it! So Wilton for the floors but then what about the seat backs? On the tourers this may have been a kind of velour but I don’t know if that was produced back in the 30s, certainly the pile on Wilton would be too long for the seat backs.
Richard Branch13 March 2016 at 19:55 #51819Can’t help specifically Bill but there are several places advertising on the internet that claim to be able to provide classic car keys. Have you tried emailing them your enquiry?
Richard Branch6 March 2016 at 19:16 #51806Certainly won’t be bidding against you David, I think I’ll stick with soft bags for the time being. Be interested to see how yours turn out though if you can post some pictures. 🙂
Richard Branch6 March 2016 at 19:07 #51804Thanks again, mine is a 1933 car so I guess chrome would have been becoming popular however as has been said,especially for a tourer I am erring towards black.
Richard Branch6 March 2016 at 11:18 #51794Was going to say that cannibalising an existing one may be the way to go. I bought two really nice 1950s “Revelation” cases for my Aston but my wife turned her nose up at at putting her clothes in them because the linings were a bit grubby and stained. I can see her point I suppose. Perhaps new lining in period case?
Richard Branch29 February 2016 at 11:55 #51779Hi Barry, I can see you joined the group, welcome. It’s a very good way to share quick snaps of cars and stuff. Perhaps put up a picture of yours by way of introduction? :}
Regards
Rich…Richard Branch25 February 2016 at 20:38 #51772Yes, it was ?175 when I spotted it but it didn’t get any bids. It was relisted at the the price you got it for but you’re pleased with it and that’s the main thing. 😀
Richard Branch25 February 2016 at 17:40 #51770Pleased it went to a member so I’m glad I posted it on here. Shame you didn’t bid on it first time it was listed, you’d have saved some money 😉
