Editing thi spost because I understan what Bill is saying now. My understanding is that the 5 is hotter and the 7 is colder. I would have thought that a colder plug would be more prone to sooting. However I am here to learn so am I right in thinking your suggestion is to use a slightly hotter plug?
Thanks Rich…
Richard Branch17 August 2016 at 20:24 #52078Thanks Mark, I will see how I get on with some new NGK AB6 ‘s – as you say it was more heavy soot than oil.
Richard Branch16 August 2016 at 22:52 #52076Bought half a dozen NGK AB6 ‘s I assume they are correct, if there’s an alternative plug that may be less prone to oiling up let me know 😀
Richard Branch12 August 2016 at 19:55 #52068😀 😆 😀 Tactfully put David… however I was surprised to read they were fitted by Lagonda back in ’33
Richard Branch26 July 2016 at 21:07 #52057Humm, thanks everyone. Out of interest, what are pump pliers David?
Richard Branch26 July 2016 at 17:28 #52054In a way this reminds me of my dad. He worked for London Underground at Acton depot. When I was little I was always interested in nailing bits of wood together to make something and after a while I noticed that lots of his tools had LTE stamped on them. He always maintained the story that they belonged to a chap called Little Tommy Edwards with whom he worked and that he’d got them from him. In older age I realise that LTE stood for London Transport Executive! Many years later I was recounting this story to my father-in-law and he laughed and said “in that case don’t ask why all our cutlery has AM stamped on it because I’d tell you I got it from a chap I worked with called Arthur Morris.” He was a retired RAF pilot and went on to explain that AM was in fact Air Ministry! 😀
Anyway, anyone got any suggestions for what tools to stick in my tool bag in the boot of my 16/80? :help:
Richard Branch25 July 2016 at 19:48 #52050I assume he had the engine repaired after it went bang a year or so ago 😉
Richard Branch24 June 2016 at 19:35 #52024Nice to hear of another AMOC member on here too Keith, there’s a few of us!
Don’t be shy to post the odd update on your DBSV8, lovely car that. I have a DB 2/4 MkIII and an 18/60 Tourer as my Lagonda / Aston pair 🙂
Richard Branch13 June 2016 at 19:12 #52006We went to this event in 2009 and 2010 and it was a lovely day out. Robert & Tania’s hospitality is wonderful and of course it’s all for the purpose of raising money for their chosen charity. I have no idea how many cars were there 5 or 6 years ago but b the sound of it it’s grown considerably. I will certainly try to get along and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Some snaps from those years

Richard Branch12 May 2016 at 20:33 #51943That’s a smashing story Awini. I’m sure many of us have the odd story about our cars but that one is truy exotic! 😀
Richard Branch2 May 2016 at 20:40 #51919Looks to be all in order Tim and the leatherwork is in good condition.
Richard Branch1 May 2016 at 16:49 #51908Thanks chaps, good idea to cut a slot and try to unscrew it. if not I know what you mean by an easy-out, I call them stud extractors but as you say Bill, I will get a good quality one from my local tool shop, yes I do have one, and give it a try. Thanks for your help. Rich…
Richard Branch30 April 2016 at 15:27 #51896Thanks for your words Michael. Of course my car, being a 16/80 is on 18″ wheels rather than 19″ and the Excelsiors are marked as 525/550 x 18 so I would guess I would go for the 550 x 18 Blockley.
p.s. Has anyone seen the new tread pattern they are offering called the Ital (hopefully not named after the somewhat dodgy BL car of the 70s)
