Oh ok, so there are two vent slots either side of the speaker grill – I just can’t see them in the photo. How’s your car coming along Tim?
Christian20 May 2013 at 20:24 #50202There are no vents on the parcel shelf so foot / bum warming only…
Christian20 May 2013 at 12:47 #50196It could be improved but it doesn’t seem to follow the line of the body that well – could be the body that’s at fault – valances are vulnerable to dings. Paintwork looks good, is it? There’s no rear window demister – is it a heated window or were demister vents not put on every Rapide? GB badge is not Ace…
Christian20 May 2013 at 11:41 #50192You need to buy a new camera!
This is my car as found – the gap is around 10mm below the rear number plate, I don’t believe this is a result of a knock or damage…there’s no evidence to support this.
Christian20 May 2013 at 09:39 #50190There’s a bit of flexibility in the bumpers but it would have to be done very carefully. My original bumpers, though rusty, were undamaged and the body below was the right profile (as in not damaged or pushed in). As you point out, no two cars are the same and certainly I’ve found more than a few areas which were factory adjusted to suit – definitely a hand made car!
129 is a lovely colour isn’t it!
Christian19 May 2013 at 15:19 #50185Quite right, aligning the bumpers shouldn’t be a problem. On mine the spaces were made to suit, they can easily be replaced with the right length ones – my new ones are stainless painted black.
Christian19 May 2013 at 08:08 #50183Well that’s even better then, I wonder what a perfect one would go for?
Christian18 May 2013 at 20:42 #50177Great result, the owner must be very pleased! It’s a nice looking Rapide which has had a lot of work done to it, I think the Webasto is a period feature which suits it.
Christian17 May 2013 at 15:11 #50170Quite a bit of my old carpet is good so you could have some of that, then you would have a perfect match…
Christian15 May 2013 at 21:03 #50163I bought some new boot carpet today – it looks a closer match IRL – the photo in the link shows the original on top of the new…
Christian14 May 2013 at 11:17 #50162I may have sourced a good match for the original carpet, I’m going to look at it tomorrow. if it is right I’ll probably have enough left over for what you need. I’ll let you know…
Christian13 May 2013 at 22:11 #50161I basically set up the drivers window and put the relays in place with a switch to test the mechanism. It needs some more setting up to get the cut off switches to work and I didn’t fit the main guide track. None-the-less it works pretty well, better than I thought it would.
The link below should show a clip of it working – sorry it’s sideways and poor quality, it’s my first video upload…a better one will follow!
Christian10 May 2013 at 15:01 #50158If he does have any original type carpet would you mind letting me know. Most of mine is fine but I don’t want two different types of carpet – I think black pile is the only other alternative I can find. I’ve actually drawn up every bit of carpet both in the boot and cabin so I can have it remade – I know how to have fun!
