Rich,
some say that the Sonnets of Shakespeare are helpful – either to sooth you when Lagonda motoring is not working out as planned, or to celebrate the joys of driving a Lagonda

I had the same issue with stuck pistons and badly scored cylinders on two wheels and in the end had to replace the whole thing as the aluminium pistons were not salvageable. I found replacement units at PowerTrack Ltd
Tel/fax (01753) 842680 International +0044 1753 842680. Although this will surprise anyone who has done this sort of job, the replacement item was identical and fitted perfectly – a direct swap. What a nice surprise that was. Although I prize my car’s originality, there was no choice other than replacement and perhaps on braking components I am more happy to compromise. The refurbishment of the removed cylinders and pistons is still at the bottom of my jobs list after 10 years. This was done nearly 10 years ago so these contact details may not be helpful.

All the best for your future venture.
You have generously given a great deal of time and knowledge to this forum which I am sure its members appreciate.

well done!
I see on eBay that the body is being posted to you. Hope you have a big letterbox.

I have this article – just one A4 page and I will scan it and email to you. Send me a PM with your details.Have just seen something that I had not noticed before – both this magazine (Winter 2006/7) and the next one, Spring 2007, are numbered 212. So there is not a mag in my set with the number 211 on the front. That might win you a prize at Lagonda Trivial Pursuits or pub quiz.
Alistair Crawford7 March 2014 at 18:13 #50709David, yes thanks: turned out to be easier than I had anticipated!
Alistair Crawford19 August 2013 at 16:40 #50314Peter and Christian
Let me repeat the thanks to both of you – to Peter for founding and running the forum and to Christian for your hard work in showing us the progress on your car in an interesting and informative way.
Christian, I am deeply disappointed that anyone would be less than grateful and courteous to you, however much their opinions may differ.
Thank you!
Alistair Crawford14 August 2013 at 15:52 #50305Just looking at it again, the car in the barn is the car on the front of the Ellard auction catalogue – an absolute beauty. see the attached picture – the coachlines and body seem to match. This car needs to be bought and restored!
Alistair Crawford14 August 2013 at 15:36 #50304That car (FLD 1 and chassis 14083) was sold as part of the Ellard collection in 1984, described as Hooper body and specially built for the wife of a director of Hooper. Its condition in 1984 was “very good” despite being in store for the previous 20 years – prior to that it was one of Ellard’s own favourites in which he drove 20,000 miles.
Hard to compare the magazine pic with the Ellard catalogue – photographs are poor – so not sure if it is the same car – Ellard swapped bodies and engines among his big collection.
I would expect that the registration has been transferred by now, as it would be very valuable to those who care about vanity plates.

on my M45 (which I have now sold so no pictures) this carpeted panel with the handle and small bolt was upright on the left hand side of the passenger footwell. So you could keep tools or mapbooks in a vertical compartment between this carpeted panel and the bodywork, to the depth of the wood frame of the car. hope that makes sense!
Alistair Crawford10 June 2013 at 18:19 #50230thanks for your comments – looks as though the only sure answer is to dismantle the hub and find out what is in there. Thanks.
Alistair Crawford10 April 2013 at 20:18 #50105and it is a beauty..

room for all the family and the pleasure of choosing whether your chauffeur is enclosed or open to the elements.
perhaps another big project for roadmap??
Alistair Crawford4 February 2013 at 18:01 #49988TVJL,
Whoops, pressed wrong button so this answer may be duplicated.
The car has a Lagonda Club badge so you could probably get answers about the history, provenance and correct identification of the model from Arnold Davey if you wanted to pursue it.
It is also relisted at lower price now

my only point was that the logbook says engine 16011 and I don’t believe that is correct. but the ad specifically says a Bentley 4.2L V12 engine so that may be what is under that dusty bonnet.
What a pleasure it would be if this fine car could be saved and brought back to life!Alistair Crawford9 December 2012 at 16:35 #49900and log book says red (car is black) and my recollection is that Lagonda engine number 16011 is in a DHC owned by Eckhard Fabricius. does the car on eBay have a Lagonda engine under that long bonnet?
