My most recent Lagonda acquisition has Ace wheel discs, which I have never had on a car before.
Usually I would just get out my toolbag and logically dismantle such items. However, since I am a member of this forum of experts, I thought that I would call on your wisdom.
The bit I don’t understand is that there is obviously some tubing inside the disk connecting the valve on the tyre to the inflation point on the Ace disc (so that you don’t have to remove the disc to inflate the tyre or check tyre pressures). How does that come to pieces?
Also is it usual for gravel etc to get caught behind the discs and then rattle around on the wire wheels?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Alastair.
When I first saw my V12, I asked the seller about wheel discs, and he said he hadn’t fitted them as they rattled. So I expected to get a set when I bought the car. Annoyed to find they weren’t included amongst the spares when I bought it, & even more annoyed to see Ace discs being sold a year or so later, with other V12 spares I might have expected, by him. So…they may rattle. The discs were actually bought by another member local to me, & turned out to be green, so actually from another V12 the guy had turned into a Le Mans rep. I did get the wings with wheelcases, & tucked in the tool-holder, I found a little tool. It has two prongs & fits over the valve, so I guess you’ll find a small circular nut with 2 holes in it that this would engage in, to unscrew it & therefore release the valve extension from the disc.
    Hope that helps!

thanks for this – will check in the tool-holder for a similar little tool.

Will do more research before using brute ignorance to remove the wheel discs.

    thanks!

    Dear Alistair,

have you resolved this Ace wheel disc issue? I presume so after all this time.

I have just finished restoring the inner discs and associated spoke clamps and am having new outside discs made for my LG45 so am now an expert! Happy to help with advice and photos if required.

David, yes thanks: turned out to be easier than I had anticipated!
