You may want to try these people in Bury St. Edmonds, Past parts.

I can recommend, excellent work and reasonably priced.

    Colin hi

Do you have any pictures of this V12 by Mulliner please, I suspect that you are on the right track and would be delighted to know more please !

As far as barges go, you are you correct the LB6 engine would have struggled especially in early 1949 format, with that heavy bodywork.

    Richard hi,

When it comes to pre-war Lagondas these are still great value in comparison imo to the very highly priced AM cars of the same period. There is no monopoly on sales or restoration, a very good thing in my opinion.

You could not do better than (a) join the club, it is very good value, (b) always speak to Valerie or Colin Bugler who hold the club databases first. They can give you in 9 out of 10 cases a good history of the car.

There are many people to speak to on the pre-war 2 litre or 16/80, but I would suggest Colin Mallet (M34) or Peter (S30) a more recent owner of a 2 litre, who is very hands on.

Avoid cars which have been re-bodied or engines swapped. There are plenty of very good cars out there which are right. A current super 2.0 litre is with David Wall in Norfolk, a very respected man in Lagonda circles. Take your time and try a few cars first.

Picking hairs slightly the LB6 engine was not exactly designed by Bentley, he was involved. but the man really behind the LB4, LB6 and LB8 designs was Willie Watson.

    Colin hi

This is the red-monster, DP113, based on a 2.6 litre chassis, see

The works chopped it I believe, no doubt run into the ground as a company hack !

The car has been reposted on eBay:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aston-Martin-Lagonda-/181794503150?

The price has come down to ?7250.

I now recognise the car, it is the Abbey Farm car which David spotted earlier in the year. So changed hands in the last few months.

The spare red seats with the car do not come from a Lagonda.

If I am correct and memory still working, the gearbox with the car is not a DB box, hence also not from a Lagonda. This will affect the price a great deal.

So what you are buying is a rolling shell with tatty seats and no instruments, at this price still too expensive.

    Colin hi,

Good to see someone serious about his Lagondas. Not the prettiest of cars, looks more like a barge to me…

Getting warmer, date of manufacture is ca. 1949/50, and probably ran around on trade plates for awhile.

Engine size was always the 2.6 litre.

A pair of cars made, one as a saloon and the other as a dhc, the later has survived.

An earlier picture of the same car ca. 1950-51, with split front windscreen, interesting transporter and a well known make of sports racing car next to it…..

    Colin hi

Good guess, but not correct, this car was unique, a shame it has not survived.

    Kind regards

With 3.5 hours to go, it has slowly risen to ?55,000, but clearly will not reach its reserve, unless there is a big surge in price in the last minute or two..

The car did not meet its reserve and reached only ?58300, far to cheap, and of course eBay is the wrong place for such a fine looking dhc…

The car is for sale at ?19,995 from the car dealer who owns this. I suggest that there is no chance of achieving this price for a rotten car.

It got to around ?9000 on eBay, which shows that prices are rising even for the most unloved of the post-war DB Lagondas.

The car with registration number 1297, an Irish registration plate.

No interior pictures, but a very well worthwhile project for the enthusiast.
