2.6 dhc sold several years needing a fair bit of work.
See auction link where car sold for ca. ?18k. These cars are tough to sell in the USA.
The owner has tried to sell the car through the club unsuccessfully before and also a 4.5 litre M45 based special. Problem with the DB 2.6 litre cars, it that they have a small base of enthusiasts and the design has dated very badly
SRD4 January 2016 at 15:08 #51660The car is LR133 with manual box and originally Fawn interior, last known in Germany
The car now with a fair amount of interior restoration and other works by Nicholas Mee over the last 12 months.
SRD1 January 2016 at 14:56 #51656This car has now been saved and is awaiting restoration by a UK club member and it now has a correct period engine and box with it.
The car will be potentially unique, the sole survivor of the 2.6 litre mk2 saloons.
SRD1 January 2016 at 14:53 #51655Peter hi
A beautiful job, looks great on your car.
All the best
Simon
SRD1 January 2016 at 10:59 #51654I think white-gold possibly refreshed interior with later magnolia head rests and door cards.
Chrome work seems to have been redone as well
D-type wheel spinners as used by Guy on 129, but at least correct wheels.
SRD31 December 2015 at 19:19 #51648White gold or fawn leather interior, hard to tell from pictures.
Dash-board with very plain grained walnut, original or replaced or just poor lighting ?
Seat head-rests nicely done, even if not original.
Agreed money spent in recent times, looks like a nice set of s/s bumpers as well
See this link for 2012 auction, only 3.5 years ago…

Waiting to hear back from the vendors for full details on which car this is.
SRD30 December 2015 at 20:27 #51642Looking through the latest issue, you have to ask, did this journalist even go to the auction ?
The DBS based 4-door Lagonda was well bought at ?400k, one of the original 7 cars. I know where a companion sits, not used much either, and still with original size, not one of the RSW upgraded versions.
One wonders why AML did not retail the cars through Works Service at Newport Pagnell ?
SRD30 December 2015 at 20:22 #51641The two cars are as different as chalk and cheese.
Beauty is often skin deep with these cars, as with most DB Astons of the 1960’s.
Having had one stripped down to a bare chassis, I can fully understand a ?330-350,000 price tag for a superb nut and bolt resto of a Rapide by AML.
SRD8 December 2015 at 18:46 #51595I won’t be surprised if the car sells after the auction or through the AML classic showroom at Newport Pagnell or possibly they may hold it for the Bonhams Jamboree in May. Will speak to my contact at NP, see what is happening
Probably one of the best Rapides in the market right now. and will clearly sell at or near price where bidding stopped, the high point for Lagondas post war under DB at the moment.

Same info from Tim, they should have sold it at that price, would have been a new high.
Surprised AML did not give a 10% movement on estimate.
SRD6 December 2015 at 17:41 #51588I don’t know at this time, will try and speak to Tim Schofield tomorrow.
Personally I think they over cooked the estimate, should have been say ?230-280 and let the market decide. I know it had E260k of AML money spent on it over a period of time.
Noted ca. 70% selling rate of cars sold, several other cars with adventurous estimates no doubt unsold.
The works prepared 1974 Lagonda, with RSW 7.0 litre engine sold for ?427k.

Sorry, unable to attend, please let me know what the car makes.
Easier to pm to direct email address.

Simon
SRD3 November 2015 at 12:51 #51545Received the short catalogue a few days ago.
Well known car and looks splendid.
If it sells, we can all go out for a good meal on the strength of it.
About time in my opinion that the Rapide made a sharp jump from the ca. 200k mark.
SRD18 September 2015 at 07:20 #51455This is one of two surviving 2.6 litre Mk2, not seen for many years. Both without engine/gearbox
LAG/50/516 2150 611953 Post-War DB2.6 DB2.6 Mk2 YMF 148 now VB6J/124 Sln Lagonda
The rarest DB 2.6 saloon, so worth saving by someone !
