    Hi David,
As no one has picked this up I’ll give you my thoughts.
I don’t have a 3 Litre, my car is a 16/80 but I would imagine the drain cocks are universal.
To change the cock you will definitely have to drain the system, at least down to the level of the drain cock you’re changing. Just open it and if you want to reuse the coolant put a large container underneath to catch it.
Let us know how you get on.

My car was built with a pre-selector but at some stage it was changed for a Z box. This has a 3rd and 4th ratios close together but a large gap in ratio between 2nd and 3rd. I’ll give it a try next time out.

Interesting tip about aligning the needles to get 3rd gear. Not that I have problems with the gears in my 16/80 but will try it. Thanks…

Excuse my ignorance but “to the rear” of what?

The T7 body has a kerbside passenger door and a roadside rear door so I doubt the omission of a driver’s door was to prevent drivers stepping out into the road. Unless rear passengers were somehow more expendable! As Laurence says, I believe it was for rigidity in the body shell.

    16/80 on Michelin DRs

When I bought my 16/80 it had Excelsiors which disliked and they were very old. I replaced them with Michelin DR (Double Rivet) from Vintage Tyres Beaulieu and they transformed the ride of the car. Could be because they were new but I suspect it’s because they are better quality tyres. I like the look of them too.

Are you looking for a Lagonda specialist James? If so I have always used BishopGray who are near Aldermaston, yes that’s Berkshire but reasonably okay for North East Hampshire & Surrey. I’ve always found them very helpful.

    Hi Steve,

If you are on Facebook you should also post this on the Lagonda Owners Group pages https://www.facebook.com/groups/1732053427018573

There are over 800 people in that group and several M54 owners that I know of.

    Regards

    Richard

Totally agree Neil, I’ve not bought many parts from the club spares dept but the range of parts available puts most clubs to shame, it is truly excellent.

Have you tried removing the starter motor and cleaning everything? I had my starter off last winter and I am pretty certain that there is no lubrication necessary.

Hi Michael, no sorry I must have had my eyes closed, or perhaps I should go to Specsavers! Were you there?

I think I may have seen this car or it’s sibling at the Aston Martin event at Wormeley a few years ago.
