Assistants or slaves? My GB will be fine once I’ve rechromed the letters but I was intrigued by it being the right letter style, oval shape and only ?10. It’ll look good on the workshop wall…
I have actually ordered the embossed GB which I have a link to in my last reply. The size and style is perfect even though it is embossed so for ?10 I thought I would see what it was like.
I have new wheel trims which I (as well as a few others) bought from here however they will only make them in batches of 12…I think. There should be a thread on this topic somewhere.
Yes they do appear to be ACE GB badges who also made the Rapide wheel trims – nice bit of research Simon!

This is what my badge looked like, it has four fixings too but on the other side from yours. I have partially rested it now but one of the letters needs rechroming where I bent it :'( . I did have a good look around for authentic GB letters but moden ones look pretty rubbish and originals are difficult to come by for this period. I will post a close up photo later with some dims…
I think (but could be wrong) that the earlier cars were like this on the lower section and later ones were veneered…
They could possibly be used and would look ok, need to file ‘Taiwan’ off the bottom first though. I might get some machined in Alu to match the originals – internal thread might be a problem though… The originals must be out there somewhere!
The alternative lock pulls were waiting for me when I got back from my holiday today, unfortunately they are a bit too big. I wonder if the originals are actually something else which has been adapted – something not related to cars – unusual end shape…

A slightly better photo of the hinge back on the seat. There was actually a bit more to getting them back togther again in the correct way than I thought – the mechanism has to be positioned correctly as a pair. Also turns out that no two hinge parts are the same – crazy! Done now and works very well – so I can recommend this modification if you need to rechrome your hinges.
The lock is the same as a mk2 Jag one but with a slightly larger diameter lock body – the escutcheon is also off a mk2 Jag but the hole is reamed out to fit…
Good work, they look in great condition. What is the debris in the top coner of the rear seat or shouldn’t I ask…? 108 only has galvanised seat runners, I noticed yours were chrome when I was poking around – nice touch! Right I’m off to rebuild my seat hinges and post a few photos!
Hi Simon, I had to remove my seat belts and will probably fit reel inertia – but my aim is that it will look factory fitted – so I will be using belts from another car…probably in dark red.
The photos in the online article are really useful and very high def if you enlarge the pdf…

My choke control is a slider just like the heater vent control. on the lower part of the dash facia.
Good write up Simon, great to see the inner parts of your car. Those snails though! Do you think your seat belts are original? Mine had the same ones fitted in the same way and your carpet is taylored to accomodate the brackets… The way they are fixed to the B post is very clever and looks like factory work not garage work. 125 had bolts right through the B post which show on the outside, so clearly not original.
I found a cigarette butt in the end of one of my seat runners at the w/e – I guess the Rapide was attractive to smokers!
