If you need to rechrome your front seat hinges you will need to take them apart.
To do this very carefully drill out the large rivet with a 16mm step drill (or drill) making sure you do not drill to a greater depth than the lip (around 2mm). Drill the secondary rivet down to the washer and knock off the washer.
Drill central holes in both rivets and tap threads. Find appropriate washers and countersunk machine screws and it should look like it does below when reconstructed.
Now for the rechroming!
SRD29 May 2012 at 16:56 #49266Great timing, my front seat hinges have just been taken off the seats this afternoon.
So will be following this one up closely.
Were you hinges badly pitted or was it flaking chrome ?
Christian31 May 2012 at 23:29 #49311A slightly better photo of the hinge back on the seat. There was actually a bit more to getting them back togther again in the correct way than I thought – the mechanism has to be positioned correctly as a pair. Also turns out that no two hinge parts are the same – crazy! Done now and works very well – so I can recommend this modification if you need to rechrome your hinges.

Not surprised to hear the hinge parts are all seemingly unique, it follows on with everything else about these cars!
