The cigarette lighter on my car is clearly ready for replacement, it has been very well used.

I am guessing that this came from a P5 Rover with plain back knob.

Would a P6 part also with black knob and what appears to be a similar external diameter also be suitable ?

I attach a picture of the dash-board so it can be seen easily and also new keys in situ as well. The glove box is loose, since I have not refitted the car bonnet mechanism, one of my next jobs.

Again if memory serves there were 2 types of cigar lighter in use at this time, with and without an illuminated bezel. Any ideas which went in which car? Either way if a source is found I might need 2 because neither has ever worked in my cars

David – I will pull mine out and take a good look, and post some pictures, complete and aprtially dismantled and see what people have to say.

Where is the second cigar/cigarette lighter located, can only remember seeing one in my car ?

I am hoping that Guy who has a fully restored car might take a look and care to comment ??

Only one lighter in my car. Amazingly the cigarette lighter is available in my local Motaquip shop for a couple of pounds – identical except for the profile of the knob itself…which I know is quite significant.

Sorry I did not mean to imply there were 2 lighters in one car. I need one for each of 2 cars

Thank you for the clarification, had checked this morning and wondered if I was missing something.

May I assume that the DB4 has a similar spec to the dash-board as well ?

The DB4 dashboard is different in many ways not least its look and construction; it has more of some things (it has ammeter for example) and generally fewer electrical functions (e.g no electric switch for fuel filler cap). Also the instrumentation changes with “Series” of DB4. Many components are the same, for example head/side lights and wipers switches. Some appear the same but are differently calibrated, e.g. speedo

126 – has an illuminated bezel to the base of the cigar lighter. Not working of courser

Clearly, very heavy use indeed, since the smoke stained the headlining and a thin film all over the leatherwork as well.

I found a cigarette butt in the end of one of my seat runners at the w/e – I guess the Rapide was attractive to smokers!

Does your car also have the illuminated bezel to the cigar lighter, may I presume that it is also not working ?

A useful item ot get working, since so much can run off this input.
