Agreed. Nicholas Mee have been offering the car for some time. I imagine that it isn’t theirs, which fact invites a number of questions.
Perhaps offering it at the NP auction might be considered too close to home? I would have thought Amelia Island or Pebble Beach would/should be the most sensible venues.
Indeed, Richard. By my reckoning so far the group comprises 9 Australians, 7 Brits, I Dutch lady, and one lady whose location is not given. Not bad for a couple of weeks and, IMHO, a great initiative from our members down under.
According to Octane, this car did sell at the auction – and, for ?785.500!! Sadly (of course), it didn’t. 🙁
Long out of print though it may be, this is the holy grail of Lagonda books, IMO. I spent a long time looking for my copy and paid a silly amount of money for it.

NB One edition of the book to avoid purchasing (by mistake) was published in German (unless you happen to want that edition, of course).
I would like to add my own small thanks to everyone concerned with the organisation of the AGM meeting and for the very warm welcome I received personally. It was a glorious day and a superb event.
Great news, Richard, and well done. I will be at the AGM, without any kind of nice car accompanying me. You could always do the same? 😀

I did not attend the auction myself this year but a contact sent me this picture of 155 taken on the day. She looks ‘well’. However, I imagine (though don’t know) that the car is still being fettled.

It seems an obvious thing to do, unless (that is) there is not enough difference in performance to warrant the trouble and expense. Obviously, one would carefully put to one side all the original parts so that they might be reinstated at a later date.
I wonder if the 4.5 engine can be squeezed into the earlier chassis, since I think I’m right in saying that these 3 litres used a slightly modified 2 litre low chassis? Also, the 3 litre cars used a right hand shift whereas I believe most of the 4.5 units were mated to the G10 centre shift box.
Indeed! I don’t know what others think of the design. For myself, currently I’m just so thankful that it isn’t an SUV.
So the story goes, those responsible for binding Palawan’s wonderful books (at the time) had hired someone new. During the course of a general clear up, the individual concerned managed to throw away some of the unbound elements of a substantial part of the English language book’s run. There was some deliberation as to whether a reprint should be undertaken (only part of each volume was lost). However, for reasons it would be better not to rehearse, it was decided not to take this path. Hence, whilst the edition number remained the same, the number of the books that actually went to market was significantly reduced.
I certainly cherish my English language copy. 🙂
I imagine that everyone knows the story as to how they became a disproportionate rarity on the Palawan roster?
I am very sure that – back then as now – ‘Sir’ could have any colour desired. All I meant is that, if memory serves from reading my ‘Salesmans’ Guides’ which are not to hand, ‘Bristol Red’ was not a standard hue.
‘Metallic’ may well not be the correct description of what I mean – it’s just that I can’t think of a better word. It’s not brown at all, at least not to my eye.
Re colour matching, they are getting an expert man in. I assume that they will use a machine but will ask. If I can get some kind of code to rehearse, I will post it on here.
