Another thought, might I also suggest that you take a good look at the AMOC forum, to see what people have done on the DB4/5/6 cars ?
SRD19 September 2012 at 07:39 #49627I would recommend that you speak to Guy – LR129, this has been done on his car if my memory serves me correctly.
The spare switch on the dash has been wired up for the fan. I can’t remember if he has one or two fans now.
SRD14 September 2012 at 15:11 #49613Looks like you have sourced a rear axle check strap, whats the mystery ?
SRD10 September 2012 at 08:38 #49600I have just been finishing removing bright work and chrome removal. Had left the Superleggera badge removal to the end, and I was right to do so, since they had really sunk into the paint.
The passenger side badge came off reasonably quickly in about five minutes. I used a very fine knife blade to remove all the paint around the badge and then carefully broke the contact with the paint and base of the badge.
it seems to be Mazak metal or similar, very delicate. Thankfully, it came off in one piece and was not bent or distorted. Top face down to metal, but will re-chrome easily, since thankfully zero pitting or damage.
The drivers side badge was another story, that took a happy hour or two using the same tools, until, it was finally freed from the bonnet.
I was pleased that both badges came off in one piece, without damage, but it is clearly not a job for the faint hearted, these are so easily damaged !
The thickness and depth of paint most impressive under and around the badges.
SRD6 September 2012 at 15:08 #49589This car, made 623 pounds. Still a good buy for spares and body parts etc.
SRD4 September 2012 at 18:41 #49582The same LG6 saloon now a drophead, up for auction at H&H again, at 60-75k.
I suspect that it will be an unsold again, with this generous estimate.
SRD4 September 2012 at 18:39 #49581Unsure with the pictures, will let you know after I have seen the car in the flesh at Bonham’s.
But it does look a good proposition if you don’t have one of these drop dead gorgeous dhc’s yet.
SRD4 September 2012 at 18:37 #49580This car was one of three cars sold by Byron International, and if memory serves me correct, the buyer paid around 6-6.5k for it.
I suspect that this may be a tough sale at H &H, the reserve is high. But, then again it is a clean and complete car needing restoration.
SRD4 September 2012 at 18:36 #49579I have checked with Bonhams and this car has no reserve, so it will be sold to the highest bidder.
It looks a better proposition then, given the car condition.
SRD17 August 2012 at 11:19 #49541Here is a current picture of a Rapide with the badge bar in position, on top of the bumper.
Position is identical to mine, so clearly a period add on works feature to the Rapide, and not an after market one. But makes the front end very, very busy.
The only difference is that this badge bar has four supports to attach to top of bumper, so appears to be a possible later addition.
With the set up as shown, the fog lights would of course gone beneath the bumper.
However, as the period picture of LR130 shows, anything went, and you could clearly have any spec you wanted, depending how much money you wanted to pay of course….
SRD8 August 2012 at 10:44 #49522David good morning,
I will email you with my details directly so we can talk.
Thank you for your thoughts.
Kind regards

SRD7 August 2012 at 12:13 #49520Peter hi
Thanks for your thoughts.
Yes, this is a genuine dhc and not a chopped down saloon.
I am planning to see the car shortly, it is an older restoration, back in the 1990’s I have been told. The car is road taxed, so will be interesting…
The LG45 also came with the G10 gearbox, same as on the LG6 and V12 models, which I have been told by several club members is a good box.
I am torn between this car and the LG6; the latter with similar chassis, internal layout and build to the V!2, and also sensible position accelerator pedal.
SRD6 August 2012 at 15:11 #49514Peter – I would very much appreciate your thoughts on these cars please, when you get a moment.
Many thanks
Simon
