Thank you. I noticed the club magazine I just received posted the same picture with no acknowlegment. Maybe just a coincidence.
Barry Brown6 February 2012 at 22:23 #48756Your request for information comes as a surprise but then again it seems consistent with the lack of contributions to this forum. I just received my Lagonda Club 2012 roster and it lists 145 M45’s . I would have thought one of these nearby owners would be involved with helping you with your project. Is the Brooklands Museum a Lagonda Club member? Anyway, the M45 instruction book I bought from the club shows the firing order to be 1-4-2-6-3-5 timing 32 degrees BTD fully advance. Will the engine run well on the mag only? Could it be that it is not working? If so are not the distributor’s points opened at the same instant as the mag’s?
Let me know if you need any other info from the manual and I will scan and email it to you. The M45 stamp on the starter seemed strange and now I know why. Cheers, Barry

Barry Brown5 January 2012 at 13:04 #48678Thanks David, Wow! What a beauty that one is! I like it better than mine! A little different body style but looking at the photos has made me wonder if mine had a similar boot mounted tool kit. Anyone know? Also does anyone know if the Lagonda emblem on the spare cover was a standard fitment? I am lucky enough to have one of these rare covers, I will check for emblem holes. Cheers, Barry

Barry Brown5 November 2011 at 23:59 #48540Hi Julian, That is interesting as I gather from reading my recently arrived “History of the Marque” that Mr. Dobell had several Lagondas. My car Z10492 , apparently the 14th M45 made? was sold to Dobell and shipped to RAF base Malta. Whether or not it competed in anything is unknown to me , maybe it just towed mosquitos around! There is quite a copious file on my car along with the factory record card I received from Jon Leo and all the numbers match. The registration number is AOB253 . I have the log book and number plates. I would love to know if any early photos of the car exist. Thanks, Barry
Barry Brown3 October 2011 at 12:24 #48502I guess it depends on the origin of the number . If it refers to 4.5 litre displacement Meadows than I suppose “four five ” would be more appropriate.

Many thanks, Barry Barry Brown13 August 2011 at 19:29 #48446Does Aston Martin bother litigating against use of the Lagonda logos etc.? I imagine not worth their while . Ford and Harley waited many decades before they decided to protect such but now it is done with a vengeance.
