I wonder how H&H came to their estimate, so much higher than precedent. The previous owner seems to have done very well from his choice collection
David31 December 2015 at 22:03 #51651But found 3-eared spinners for the Dunlop wheels, like 129. I still have the original hubcaps that were the templates for the new batch from Coventry that went on 108
David31 December 2015 at 19:44 #51649In my view not fawn, magnolia? It’ll be interesting to see what details N Mee provide
David31 December 2015 at 18:34 #51647Could it be 129? Wheels look familiar. Ah no, no bullet wing mirrors and slightly darker colour. Interesting front seats and headrests. Clearly has had money spent even if not as much as 146 which is as perfect under the skin as externally. Interesting that it’s running on twin SU carbs
David15 December 2015 at 11:08 #51603I sat in the back of the bronze one at Newport Pagnell last May, quite cramped because of the rear axle impinging on space. Also the rear doors are low meaning you have to duck to get in or out if more than say 5ft6 tall. Beautifully done though but is it really ?575k worth?
David6 December 2015 at 17:33 #51587Not sold I think, wonder where the bidding got to? Anyone know?
David3 December 2015 at 19:55 #51576Sorry Simon am no longer planning to attend, will just have to rely on the web. Regards
David13 November 2015 at 15:33 #51561Bill, I think Roger’s question relates to DB Rapide which has a tank in each wing with cross connecting pipe. Like you, I suspect any pipe with helical wire insert will be difficult to connect over the lip on the tanker
David12 November 2015 at 22:05 #51558Mark, interesting idea to use marine exhaust hose if available to the correct size as being fuel proof. I wonder if this is proof against petrol with 10% ethanol as well as marine diesel which I’d expect to be its norm. I have unfortunate experience with thinking fitness for one application means fitness for another, one of my cars deposited 3 gallons of oil on the M25 after I’d used the wrong type of flexible hose…
David12 November 2015 at 16:15 #51555Hi Roger, interesting question! 90% or more of the interconnecting pipe is actually steel with the ends linked to the tanks by quite thick rubber/plastic hose held in place by jubilee clips. It would be my preliminary view that other components of the fuel system would be more vulnerable to modern fuel, such as old fuel pipe, carb diaphragms and fuel pump seals etc. That said, original tank hoses are now 50+ years old and could be suffering a variety of different problems.
