Hi Rich, it’s LR/117/R the ex works demonstrator and DB taxi. It’s now fitted with modern brakes from Fosseway Engineering although we’re replacing the green stuff pads as they’re not very effective. The old fuel pump had basically gummed up so the replacement will be solid state, and the fuel tank solenoid is being rebuilt to get the reserve capacity to work for the first time! We’re looking to get the car ready to go to Silverstone on Saturday 22 August for the Bentley DC race meeting if spectators are allowed
David11 August 2020 at 15:15 #53179Famous last words “must use it more”. Started the car today for the first time in a year, gone to a local specialist for a new fuel pump and nose to tail checkover. MOT of course deferred till November
David18 November 2019 at 12:25 #53102Jan 2020 Classic Cars mag just arrived, and its classified ads have one for sale in Hampshire at ?79995. Doesn’t appear to be a trade ad
David17 October 2019 at 21:16 #53080Hello Jay, sorry to read your news. Have you spoken with Forshaws at Aston Service Dorset? Or Chris Adams at Four Ashes Garage? Hope you find a simple fix, regards, David
David30 May 2019 at 16:27 #53023Got its voluntary MOT last week. Hope to use the car more this year
David29 May 2018 at 17:24 #52802Another year on, another MOT pass today. Car going very well, even the screen wash works
David3 November 2017 at 17:24 #52541I’ve only seen 101 in the flesh once, at Silverstone, so knew about the rear fins, but had not realised the front wheel arches are not flared. Agree it would look better with new hubcaps
Interesting to see the build sheet say the original engine is 400/101 but the blurb says 3.7. Other differences I can spot include nice front seats with central arm rests, window switches in the front doors, non-Yale locks. I wonder what the toggle switch under the dash is for if not for petrol filler cap release? And as the blurb says it’s had the Graham Whitehouse auto box change. No picnic tables in the back either, ashtrays instead
David1 November 2017 at 20:01 #52539I met Dylan recently at Pugsley and Lewis whilst on an AMHT task. Also saw 108 there
David20 June 2017 at 23:38 #52410Peter, thanks for the info, it is LR138. For some time years ago it was exhibited at the AMHT in Oxfordshire when owned by Brian Tustain who sadly died relatively recently. About ?120k, that seems a bit lower than I’d have expected

David19 April 2017 at 21:03 #52376Drove the Rapide for 2 hours ish today, and no warmth in the wheel bearings at all. Properly sorted. MOT next month courtesy of Wren Classics who’ll do some other work too
David18 April 2017 at 15:48 #52375Drove the Rapide today for the first time in 6 months. New brakes are excellent even after that layoff, no squeal or pull just even and effective retardation. No flooding in the garage this winter just gone, such a difference!
