I recently aquired a Rapide with 35K miles, manual, in need of TLC.

Just as an update. The milage reads as 35K, which needs to be verified. The original colour was a light aquamarine blue… The boot had some useful spares – Original Solex refurb kit x 2, Girling servo service kit x 2, some paperwork, jack with AML paper tag and other stuff (including spare cabin carpet!).

Super stuff. Hang on to that paperwork! Try never to use the standard jack in anger – it’s really not up to it (though keep it safe for show, of course). The spare carpet may be a real boon. Great colour, btw!

    Best,

8th Owner – Robin Hamilton (1973 – 79), any way of confirming this?

Just to let you know, I started and drove 108 this weekend and everything seems to work very well. I was initially worried that the car was sitting too high but it has now settled with 6″ clearance, which is in line with the original spec. I think the suspension can get sloppy over time allowing it to sit low and be a bit bouncy – it’s now pretty tight. Photos will follow…at some point!

Many congratulations Christian, an outstanding result for yourself. Much looking forward to seeing the finished car!

Thank you, all going well I hope to get it on the road just after Christmas. I think that at the end of this my greatest triumph will have been to get all the interior lights working properly. If you ever have to tinker with them you’ll understand why!

A mighty achievement in three years Christian.
Having been there, I am glad you are aware of the task before you fixing the interior lighting.

Thank you, I am very pleased with the result. The lights work beautifully now but I had to track every wire which wasn’t easy, as there are so many just for this one thing.
