Engine # Location (3.5 litre)

Can someone please advise where we can find the engine number on a 3.5 litre?  Related – is the chassis number only on the brass plate, or is it stamped elsewhere on the frame (in a place that is visible without any disassembly)?

Only just seen this post.   From memory isn’t it stamped on the top of one of the aluminium engine mountings. ?

In my case, the chassis number is only to be found on the brass plate on the bulkhead (on my car “Z11375”).  There are two sequences of engine number.  The first (non model-specific) number is on the brass plate aforementioned (“3123”), and the second, (model-specific) number, on the top of the nearside forward engine bearer (“35Z/163”).
