My Sanction 3 LG45 DHC (with central gear change lever) was originally fitted with reversing lights and as called up on the factory records.
There was a switch incorporated in the side of the remote housing / tower which house the secondary selectors and gear stick.
After some research I discovered this switch appears to be identical to the 1960’s Rover 100 P4 overdrive inhibitor switch Lucas item 31542 and similar switches are still commonly available ( but nowadays with tag connections rather than screw terminals) for the likes of Triumph TR6, spitfire and Ford tractors!
I managed to find and old stock Lucas one with the correct screw connections but the modern replacements look the same apart from that ( but probably not the same quality either).
So this info may help some one who wants to have working reversing lights……
Regards to all

This is something that is missing on my car too. Do you have any photos?

I have some photos I took recently of the reverse switch on my LG6, email (see profile) me with your email address and I’ll email them to you.Laurence
Bill LG456 December 2015 at 17:01 #51586Hi David
Will take some pictures of the tower / selector housing showing the switch in location and upload those.
My car currently has rear D lights either side of the number plate that have all red lenses but I suspect these were originally red and white lenses as the back plate has two separate bulbs with a divider, currently wired for rear light and stop light respectively but I believe this should be reverse light plus stop and tail twin filament.
The red part the rear lights would be very small with those original lenses and that could well be why the lenses were changed and the reversing lights ignored.
My build sheet refers to Z6246 (ace) which I believe refers to the whole number plate /rear light assembly with glass cover etc.
Pic attached.
Cheers
BillColin M346 December 2015 at 18:11 #51590Hi Chaps,
My Sanction 2 LG45 had a reversing light switch in the right hand gear lever extension. From memory, this sounds like the same Rover P4 overdrive inhibitor switch that Bill mentioned. The M45 has a manual dashboard switch marked “RL”

As promised pictures of the tower and switch. Sorry it took a while’
Note: There is a 1/8 inch thick spacer washer (stamped with a Lagonda Part No. so definitely original) under the switch.
Cheers
