    Hi,

I’m a new member, and new custodian of 14/60, chassis No. OH 8607, Engine No. 3643/3/89AA.

I urgently need to know how to remove the water pump, so that I can renew the corroded aluminium elbow fitted to the plate behind it.
Does anyone have a 2-litre workshop manual I can buy?

    Thanks, Steve Darnell

    Hi Steve,
Are you a member of the Lagonda Club?
They can supply a 2 litre engine manual if that is what you need.

    Hi Steve
If I recall correctly, the water pump is removed by using a C spanner to remove the clamping ring that holds the pump to its mounting casting. If you do not have a C spanner then use a small diameter brass drift and with a hammer tap the ring back anti clockwise until it clears the thread. You can then withdraw the pump, but I cannot remember if you need to remove the carburetor and inlet manifold in order to allow the pump to be withdrawn towards the rear.

Of course in replacing the corroded water elbow the Lagonda Club can supply one of these and a side plate if that is also corroded which is more than likely ( I had to replace all the water jacket castings on my 2 Litre) Also, as mentioned by David, the club have produced a Vintage Lagonda Manual which is very detailed about all aspects of running all the 2 Litre models and a must for owners as the advice contained in it can save you substantial sums.

Once you have joined or if already a member, do give me a call (Y2 in the members register) as I think I have an original 14/60 owners handbook if that is of help to you.

    Best Regards
    Mark

Thanks. I’ve got the pump off – the plate is brass, and that’s off too. I’ve joined the Club (D7). How much do you need for your 14/60 manual?

    Best regards,

    Steve.

    Hi Steve,
I have found the owners Instruction Book and it is indeed for the 14/60
Look me up in the members register (Y2) and give me a call.
    Best Regards
    Mark
