Gentlemen,
I am not familiar with Motul synthetic but here in the States some of the newer oils no longer contain zinc and many older cars such as ours have suffered from severe camshaft wear, as our flat lifters need the zinc as a lubricant. Modern cars with roller lifters do not need this and the oil blenders were asked to remove it to enable the pollution control devices to function better. As such, we have to buy a specialty oil or run an additive.Lee Duran30 July 2013 at 12:54 #50267The body @ Hershey was from my LG45, 12139. It was built in Kenya and is being replaced by a new 2 place boat tail. (see attachment)
The old body is well constructed but incredibly heavy. After removing the old and installing what is in the photo, I had to lower the rear suspension 3+ inches, and also had to soften the spring rate!Lee Duran25 September 2012 at 12:44 #49665The “tourer” in question now resides in my shop, so maybe I can answer some of the questions. The body was the product of an unknown local Kenyan craftsman executed in a very competent manner the body was solidly framed, mostly in mahogany, and clothed in aluminum with steel doors. The body now has been removed and a new 2 place lightweight “sport” body will replace it. The mechanics and chassis were in excellent condition due to its sojourn in dry climates. The fenders “wings” and other bits are currently for sale elsewhere in this forum. Time will tell if this metamorphosis is more successful than the last.
