    Does anyone have, or know of a rear bumper blade for an LG45 for sale. The sort with the curly ends. NB a front one wont do as it’s shorter.

    Also one rear jack in reasonable condition.

    The Lagonda Club can supply a second hand rear jack from the Leo spares hoard though only to Club members. Email address is [email protected]. I think a rear bumper may be fairly easy to find.

    Thanks Colin, I didn’t realise the club might have a jack. I did have a full set but misplaced one in a house move some while back. I did manage to get a replacement from David Ayre but it is so badly corroded round the mounting bracket area that I can’t really use it for anything other than in non-working mode. I’d kinda like them to work.

    As it happens I have an LG45 Rear bumper all complete. The chrome has been repainted in grey primer so I do not know what state it is in. If you are interested do let me know. Regards, Stephen :} :} :}

    I knew the car Stephen has the rear bumper from and as I remember it is complete, though it will need careful repair and rechroming once the grey primer has been removed.

    I cannot recall if it needs any welding, but once it is structually sound, I can strongly recommend Derby Plating Services to replate it. They will put a heavy layer of copper on and then polish it out prior to the final layer of chrome. Apparently they can get the copper to ‘flow’ into any imperfections and fill in any pitting, and can get a really good finish on some pretty battered and rusty items.

    They are not cheap though, so get a quotation first…

    Hi Stephen. I have emailed you. Does it look like the attached photo?

    And thanks Colin for the chroming advise. I emailed the club asking if they have a jack as you suggested, about 10 days ago, and have had no reply. Is that normal? I am a member!

    Hi David,

    Sadly, yes, delay or indeed no reply at all seems “normal” in my experience. Suggest polite reminder!

    Hi folks,

    As a member of the Lagonda Club spares comittee can can I point out that this is a CLUB not a business. Although Robin Cooke, the spares officer, receives a fee for administering the spares operation, much of the work is done by unpaid volunteers, of which there are not enough. This isn line with the in line with the ‘not for profit’ basis of the Club.

    Robin works full time on his business of restoring and supply of spare parts for Rolls-Royce motor cars and this time of year is very busy for him. The Lagonda Club is incredibly lucky to have a spares officer with so much exertise in old cars in general, and many readers will have benefitted from his helpfullness, even if it is sometimes not an instant response!

    Cheers Colin M34
