For those in the UK that have converted their standard headlight bulbs to LED, up until 21/3/21 it would appear these would have created an automatic MOT failure. I hence suspect that any such vehicle could possibly have been deemed unroadworthy in the event of an insurance claim.
The good news however is that from 22/3/21 these may now be legal if installed in a car manufactured prior to 1/4/86. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/special-notice-01-21-headlamp-conversions/mot-special-notice-01-21-headlamp-conversions
I currently have standard bulbs, but have seen a few Lagondas with LED headlamps retrofitted. If the above is correct (and would suggest that anyone with an interest confirms it for themselves)…. I may well consider now taking the plunge with LED’s. Any feedback on the effectiveness of LED bulbs from those using them would hence be appreciated.h1427 March 2021 at 11:18 #53260An acquaintance fitted some to his Riley, a 1949 RMA. He had great difficulty getting a good focus and beam pattern, but eventually succeeded. So, worthwhile but perhaps don’t expect to simply fit and drive!

However, I rarely use my 16/80 at night and would prefer to keep the headlamps as original. I may be strange but I dislike the look of the LED bulbs because they look odd in the P80 headlamps.
