There is a V12 to be auctioned at Bonhams 29.06.12 . Looking under the bonnet you find the surprising solution to replace the original Delco Remy distributors by two upright Scintilla magnetos !

As soon as you mentioned the Scintilla magnetos I thought, “That’s Peter Gwynn’s car”. I remember going to visit him at Woldingham, probably in the late 1970s, actually in my own V12. Lovely guy, wish I’d seen more of him…think the last time was at an AGM many years ago now. I’m pretty certain he told me the magnetos were fitted early on in the car’s life, perhaps even from new.

Good mod!
They work far better than the original coil and distributors!
Only a little tall and slightly unsightly.

Hi,
This car was once the property of a well known racing driver Taso Mathieson who had it new. He may have had the Scintillas fitted new but note also the larger Oil Pressure Gauge that is similar to the ones fitted to the V 12, LG45 & M45 team cars but with black dial.
