This is an odd one. I recently had occasion to remove the magneto of my 14/60 and found the engine side half of the Simms to be very loosely attached. I expected the usual key/taper/nut arrangement but not so – there is a key but no sign of threading for a nut or bolt to force the coupling back onto a taper. Yet the coupling cannot be pulled easily off the end of the driveshaft so something is securing it however badly.
Can anyone tell me how matters should be? Apologies for such a primary school question.
