I agree with David. With well-restored DB4s & 6s breaking ?300k and DB5s ?500k, ?150-200k is about right, at least for the moment.

The Rapide is a key part of AML’s development during a golden era, and, it is intimately linked to DB himself. If you want a super rare and exclusive 1960’s Aston which has the wow factor then ?180k is probably a bargain. It wasn’t that long ago that you could get a Rapide for not too much (comparatively), this is exactly what people said about DB5’s in the mid 1980’s too – the Rapides time has come…
The other thing to bear in mind (as has been mentioned), is the time and cost of restoration. 3000 hours is about what I’ve spent (so far) and it still hasn’t come cheap either. It has to be worth at least ?100k just to cover the costs.
I should have added in my original posting, that ?180k is in the owners pocket, not the full price including Bonham’s broker fees…
Like nearly everything from the David Brown era, these are the cars that people want, and to a paraphrase a quote from a gentleman on this forum, written elsewhere: “If you want a Rapide the boat may well be close to departure..” I think it is departing personally, and yes I do watch what you write with interest, may not agree with all of it of course…

Does RS still own 153 Simon? I last saw the car about 6 years ago when it was having the GW Autos 4-speed box fitted, same time as 107 and 120, and just before mine

2. David – to answer your question, the answer is yes; and as you are no doubt aware, engine rebuild has also taken place. So it should be a very nice car when completed.
