Just wondering if any member had produced a simple maintenance schedule for a 2 litre car. I know we can glean most it from the original handbooks but with modern lubricants, the intervals would be different. It would be a useful document.

    For info:

David Hine wrote a very useful manual called the Vintage Lagonda Handbook (14/60, 2 Litre, 16/80, 3l & 3½,), which includes some information on maintenance frequencies and modern lubricants at the time he wrote it (2006) although it might have been updated since. I believe that this can be purchased through the club.

If you wish to learn more about using modern lubricants in vintage cars, there is also an interesting book called “Which Oil – choosing the right oils & greases for your vintage, antique, classic or collector car” by Richard Michell available on-line. I think even when using modern engine oils in a vintage engine, that he recommends that they are changed at least once per year….. this is probably also influenced by whether or not you have an external oil filter fitted on your 2 Litre. The main takeaway that I got from reading the book was if you use an engine oil in the gearbox… it needs to be a very grade, as a gearbox is generally a much more demanding application.

    Hope this helps.
