There is an incomplete dismantled M45 engine for sale on ebay (item 120455139086). The photos are poor.

What I don’t understand is how you found this? If I search Ebay with the keyword “Lagonda” is does not come up….

Yes it does, but you have to search in “All categories”.
it seems to be listed under “Automobilia”.
Maybe a bargain to be had if it’s hard to find. . . .

I hate to say this – but it doesn’t. No matter where I look on eBay; this engine does not come up, unless I use the number you provided.
I think many people, like me, will not find it (even if they are on the lookout for Lagonda stuff) and this might indeed go cheap as a result!

Maybe you’re on dot com as I don’t think it’s there from a quick look?
    http://www.ebay.co.uk.
Search “Lagonda” (all categories). Order by “time listed” on the right.
Scroll down to about item 35 or so and you’ll find it. . . .

(Will be on page 2 if you have it set for 25 items a page)

Yes it is there – many thanks. But it cannot be found on “eBay world” (which is supposed to list everything). Again, I am sure many people will miss this item.

Using the item number (120455139086) in the search field of ebay you still find it, it has ended at 2550GBP and was not sold (reserve not met). Somebody interested can still contact the seller by email from there. Might be a good moment to see seller and the engine and buy it directly (if I had an M45 I would do so).

If it is of interest to anyone, I bought the engine off-line from the eBay seller, though i have yet to see it! 🙂

    Hi Tim,

The photos on ebay were not very good. Perhaps you can post some better ones here so we can all have a better look when you have the engine.

    Hi David,

I will do so as soon as I can. I’m quite curious, myself, to see just how bad a state it is in.

The chap selling it seems to be quite genuine, in every sense, but knows little about the engine’s history (IIRC, the number is M45/75). it seems that he went to see a man about a dog called Rover. In addition to the Rover parts, he agreed to clear an old garage of everything else in it. Amongst the relics he found was the M45 engine. All this took place quite recently, apparently. The eBay seller knew nothing about Lagondas at that point and so was pleasantly surprised by his good fortune.

I am on the hunt, now, for a suitable frame. 😀

    Tim,

You could ask David Ayre about a chassis. I visited him a couple of times a few years ago for some parts and have vague memories that he may have had a chassis or two lying about. No idea what condition though or even if he still has them or what they were. I would think Lagonda of some sort. Alan Brown has loads of parts too. May not have a chassis but no harm asking. Both listed in Club members book.

    Good luck
    David
