Has anybody got any tips for aligning the gearbox (G10) with the engine. I seem to remember there was some advice in one of the club publications a while ago but I now can’t remember where.

    Thanks

    Dear David LG45
If you have not looked already there is some good advice from Julian on the post that I started entitled “G9 gearbox”.
I must admit that I have no experience with the G10 gearbox but I would have thought that the principles for aligning it are the same as for the G9. In the end I made up a special tool to double check my basic lining up with a spirit level. This seems to be ok (famous last words !!).
    Best of luck.

Thanks Bill for your response. I had seen that post on the G9. Julian’s advice seems to about the internals of the gearbox, or am I looking at the wrong post?

I am intrigued by your spirit level tool. Perhaps you can describe what you did?

    Dear David
Alignment details from Julian are on page 3 of the G9 gearbox post.
There is rather a lot of detail about my alignment method but If you dont mind sending me your telephone number by private message I am happy to telephone you and tell you all I know !!! I also found that it is quite important how you assemble the shaft(s) and fibre discs between the engine and gearbox. I spent hours assembling and disassembling the shaft – in between I was running it up in my lathe and observing the differences !!!

    Dear Bill,

I didn’t notice the post continued past the bottom of the first page. Me being dumb. I will study that for now and may come back to you and take you up on your kind offer.
