Out of interest. Re the front brakes I don’t see in the handbook or spares lists any mention of compensation for wear via shims on the brake shoe ends; whereas it appears that the rear shoes do have inserts. There are two threaded holes but no mention anywhere of shims. Can they be padded out and presumably we would just make up a suitable thickness?

The only disadvantage is that only the cam end is compensated, and ideally the brake linings should be re-shaped to accommodate the new contact area of the brake drum. I have been meaning to take a scrap brake drum and machine off the top so that I can attach a cutter to do this but have not got round to it yet.
