Is this the original part (hiding the screw on the string to close the door) how was it fixed ? I assume there was a counterpart on the door now missing and there is something broken away in this chrome part.
Or was the original different ? where to get them ?Peter

DavidLG4515 April 2008 at 15:02 #47272Hi Peter,
Is this a V12 ? If so, I believe they’re identical to the LG45 items. Judging by the screw holes you have they are what you’re looking for. I got some for my LG45 from Alan Brown (B99). That said he did only manage to find me 3, so doubt he could find any more. Presumably as you don’t know what you need you are missing all four of them? I got a fourth from someone who was using it as a sample to try to make a set. Not an easy job. I think they gave up.
I can measure and/photograph one of mine if that’d help.

Peter S3015 April 2008 at 16:00 #47273Hi David,
thank you, no this is from a DB 3ltr Lagonda (1957) (my second Lagonda) But may be they continued to use them since the LG45 “never throwing away anything” or just no need to change ?
let?s see if somebody else can have a look in his DB 2.6 or 3 ltr.

Peter S3019 April 2008 at 18:13 #47280David,
good idea to look at the V12 (the picture with grey leather). An then I found a picture on the internet with the 3ltr door (the beige one). The same little part! only remaining qestion: where to get it ?
DavidLG4520 April 2008 at 11:24 #47286Hi Peter,
Yes that’s what I have. The same as on the LG45 as we suspected.
As I mentioned before you could try Alan Brown he may have some more. He has loads of Lagonda parts. If you are not in a hurry ask him, and he may come across some.
Another possibility is David Ayre (in members booklet) but he doesn’t have much in the way of body fittings.
A visit to Alan or David and looking for parts yourself can be worthwile. I do realise you’re in Germany though!
Basically a pressed piece of steel or brass but as you can see in your pix quite a deep shape if you were to make some.

Colin M3420 April 2008 at 11:39 #47287Folks,
If you happen to come across a cache of these, I need one of these for my 16/80 drophead.
Colin M34DavidLG4520 April 2008 at 11:56 #47288Peter,
It seems from Colin’s post that these were used on other models as well. An ad in the newsletter may produce something. . . .

Colin M3420 April 2008 at 13:15 #47289Folks,
My 16/80 has a VdP body – albeit assembled in the Lagonda Factory. I would have thought that ‘our’ chrome item is a standard bought in component supplied by one of the body fittings suppliers of the time.
We need to keep looking around to see if anyone is making a replica, and then to tip off fellow readers of their availability.
Keep smiling (and looking)

Peter S308 May 2008 at 10:34 #47341thanks the hint of john concerning wheel crome rings I also checked this with http://www.whosegot.com (Harry Taylor), it seems that Harry has a source for the “door strap caps” too. I will give the details when I have them.
