My V12 saloon has Delco Remy distributors and I would like to check and clean the contact points. However when I undo the metal side clips, the distributor cap does not pop off to reveal the points – what else holding it on? I can see plenty of things to fiddle with, but thought I would appeal to the wisdom of the forum before risking damage.

Dear Alistair,

the Delco in my V12 are only hold by the 2 clips. Sometimes you have to give it a slight knock with your hand to get it off because it is sticking a bit.

Thanks – that is what I thought but it did not move with a little pressure. Will do what you recommend.

It took a very firm tap to release it – more pressure than I would have applied without your advice – thanks.
