My 14/60’s V5C states a first registration date of 13/04/1928 and a chassis No. 8607.
Can anyone help me with a wiring diagram, or copy thereof? I’ve located an autoelectrician (ret’d), whose opinion is that the car has probably been re-wired at least twice in it’s life (the insulation ranges from badly-perished rubber to Teflon-insulated aircraft wiring).
Many thanks,Colin M3420 March 2018 at 12:31 #52689I suggest a full re-wire using the lovely armoured cable available from vintage supplies. Take a look at https://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/search?query=armoured+cable
Various Lagonda club members can advise you the wiring but it’s basically very simple.

John Hugh21 March 2018 at 16:48 #52690Hello Steve. Very nice to see a post from another 14/60 owner.
It may be worth noting that the 14/60s wiring differs from later models in that it doesn’t use a chassis earth return. Everything has go and return wires. Consequently, if you need to add e.g. indicators or brake lights, there’s little spare room in the bulkhead channels, especially if you use the armoured wiring Colin mentions. You may find it simpler to re-wire with a chassis return.
I do have a self-generated diagram that may be useful but I can make no promises as to its accuracy. Let me know if you would like a copy.

Steve Darnell22 March 2018 at 16:37 #52692Thanks H54 John – Yes, please. I’d love a copy (I’m no sparktrician, but I do know one of a certain age, who understands autoelectrickery!
Best regards,
Steve.
Steve Darnell7 June 2018 at 13:23 #52813we’re still having problems. Main problem is that the Marchal headlamps are showing a 12-volts potential between the chassis and the lamp unit.
Dick Jones16 June 2018 at 15:02 #52828Hi Steve, are you wiring to the original double pole standard or are you trying to convert to earth return system?
Steve Darnell4 July 2018 at 15:26 #52837Well, the latest thing we’re attempting is to turn up a bulb holder to take a Halogen bulb, insulated fro the chassis, with a separate return. I also managed to buy 2 new ‘Diver’s Helmet’ rear lamps of the Ruubbolite type, and fitted a wire return to the control unit. Incidentally, might it not be a good idea to fit a Lucas Voltage Control Unit, say from one of my (far too many) Series Wolseleys (1938-45)?
Cheers!
