Information
There followed a series of upheavals in the ownership of the company and the need for something newsworthy resulted in the Mark 2 V8. The series 2 only shared the V8 engine with its predecessor though it was by the same design, Bill Towns. It was the sensation of the 1976 Motor Show though deliveries did not commence until 1979.
Series 2 cars were originally fitted with digital LED dashboards and touch pad controls, but the innovative steering wheel controls and gas plasma display were abandoned in 1980. The Lagonda retailed at GB£49,933 in 1980.
This was the company’s main product for some years, once original teething troubles had been overcome. It was particularly fashionable in the Middle East, where no trendy sheik could afford not to have one (or several). 645 were built up to 1990.
