Can anybody recognise this radio in my ,38 V12 De Ville, I,m told the radio itself was fitted in the nearside false spare wheel cover and this part was connected by bowden cables. all I have is the daashboard unit

Normally in the nearside spare wheel cover was the hydraulic jacking pump (lever and controlls) for operation of the built-in jacks. (see also post “jackall system”). In the offside spare wheel cover was the spare wheel. And the radio was near the batteries in the double bulkhead. I found an image in the huge Holthusen book and some images for the operating front end. It looked a bit different compared to yours but I assume different systems were used.

When I get more time I,ll remove the dashboard part to see if it has any makers name. The previous owner told me the radio was in the nearside cover near the jack ,I will have to ask him what happened to it.

At last I have found somebody who has bought the Holthusen book, please tell if its worth all that money?

I bought a copy on eBay for ?150. I enjoy having this wonderful book and being the German version so it is good for improving my vocabulary. I also marvel at the crispness of the original photos as reproduced in the book.
